These are the sweet babies that are in need of a new, forever home. The shelter received a lot of kitten litters this week, so stay updated on these little ones by calling the Humane Society to make an appointment or stopping by on Mondays between 8:00am-10:00am.

Before You Bring Your New Cat Home

So....You want to adopt and even have a new kitty picked out online or have visited him or her at the shelter. You may even have some supplies picked out, but have you prepared everyone in the house for the new family member? Have you "kitty-proofed" your home? Have you made a vet appointment for spaying/neutering and vaccines? If you said yes to some of these or panicked at the thought of "kitty-proofing" your home, there is no need to worry. Being prepared before bringing home any new pet is essential in the pet's well being, comfortability, and mood.

This is a blog that I'm starting for the Humane Society of Del Norte County in California. I have recently started taking weekly photographs of all the animals (mostly cats) in the shelter that need to be adopted. I have a passion for photography and animals and love volunteering my time to help these little fur-babies find forever homes by displaying their beautiful pictures. I also wanted to get out into the community more since I recently relocated to the area. As an added bonus it's a great opportunity to practice my camera skills. I will also be putting their own personal story with each photograph to show where they came from and why they our help. I hope this blog really takes off and helps these sweet and beautiful creatures find a loving, forever home.
